  • CarPlay and Android Auto, native
  • Crash detection and Safety SMS

Route types

Routes that fit how you ride

Every ride is different. Five route types, each built for a specific kind of day on the road.

Quick Route

Fastest path, minimal fuss. For when you need to be somewhere.

Twisty Roads

Prioritizes curves, elevation changes, and motorcycle-quality road surfaces.

No Highway

Avoids interstates entirely. Built for riders who never wanted them.

Scenic Route

Favors rural character — river corridors, ridge roads, state highways.

Long Way Round

Adaptive routes that genuinely go around. The long way is the right way.

Rydr subscribers can fine-tune routes with Bubble Zones — drag areas on the map to avoid or include. Learn more →

Community road database

Routing that learns from riders

Map geometry can tell you where the curves are. It can't tell you which roads are actually worth riding. OpenRydr learns that from riders: rate the roads and segments you ride, and those ratings feed back into route scoring — so Twisty and Scenic get better at finding real rides, for everyone.

  • Rate the roads you love — every rating sharpens routing for the whole community
  • Be a founding contributor: the map is just getting started, and early riders shape it
  • Free on every tier — contributing and benefiting are never paywalled
  • Opt-in and anonymous — traces are map-matched then discarded; we keep the rating, never the trip

A community-built map of where the best roads are — the long game no map-geometry app can copy. See how it works →

Group riding

Ride together, actually

Group riding in most apps is an afterthought. In OpenRydr, it's a first-class feature — built for how groups actually ride.

  • Shared destination, personal routing — everyone takes their own line
  • Real-time member positions on a shared map
  • Auto-regroup detection when someone falls behind
  • Trouble alerts for mechanical issues
  • Group Trips for multi-day rides — persistent chat, photos, aggregate stats

Group riding is Premium ($4.49/month or $24.99/year). See what's included →

Privacy

Your data stays yours

Simple rule: your ride data stays on your phone. We don't sell it, we don't track you, and we don't charge you for the basics.

  • Rides are recorded on-device. Cloud sync is opt-in, not default.
  • No ads on any tier, and no advertising SDKs — ever.
  • Community road database contributions are opt-in and anonymized server-side.
  • Data export and deletion available on request.
